Today, both the House and Senate return to the Capitol, marking the start of a new legislative session. Every two years the legislative session restarts following the November general election, bringing with it a time of change and renewal. With some members retiring, new colleagues joining us, and others departing after hard-fought elections, the landscape of our legislature looks different every two years.

This week begins with the important task of reorganizing our committees, which means welcoming new members and leadership as we appoint new chairpersons. Additionally, we’ll focus on reintroducing all the legislation that didn’t cross the finish line in the previous session giving us an opportunity to build on past efforts to deliver meaningful results for our communities.

As I hit the ground running, I’ll keep you updated as we tackle these priorities and more in the weeks ahead!

Swearing in

On Tuesday, Jan. 7, I had the great honor of being sworn in for my second term as your State Representative! Thank you for your trust and support—it’s a privilege to continue serving our community and our Commonwealth!

My Committee Assignments

Following our ceremony, I announced my appointment to five influential committees for the 2025-26 Legislative Session. These include two new assignments to the House Transportation and House Finance committees, as well as returning roles on the Consumer Protection and Utilities, Gaming Oversight, and Local Government committees.

I am thrilled to take on new responsibilities as a member of the Transportation and Finance committees. The Transportation Committee plays a vital role in overseeing Pennsylvania’s infrastructure, including roads and bridges, public transit, railways, airports, and ports—issues critical to the safety and connectivity of our Commonwealth. On the Finance Committee, my primary responsibility will be reviewing legislation that impacts Pennsylvania’s tax codes, ensuring fiscal policies that promote growth and fairness.

I am equally honored to continue serving on the Consumer Protection and Utilities Committee, where I have championed efforts to reform utilities, expand broadband access, and protect consumer rights. These issues remain at the forefront of my priorities.

As a member of the Local Government Committee, I will stay committed to supporting Pennsylvania’s 2,500-plus county and municipal governments, advocating for practical solutions to enhance their efficiency and effectiveness.

Finally, I look forward to continuing my role on the Gaming Oversight Committee, working to ensure the integrity and growth of Pennsylvania’s gaming industry and maintaining transparency within the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.

My role on these committees will directly impact my ability to deliver for Northeast Pennsylvania. From advocating for road paving and infrastructure improvements, holding utility companies accountable, and improving local government operations, to fostering a competitive business environment, these roles have elevated my voice for our region and allowed me to be a backstop against bad policy

These strategic committee appointments position me to have a significant impact on shaping policy that benefits Pennsylvania’s economy, infrastructure and communities.

Sugar Notch Borough Welcomes Junior Councilman

I had the privilege of attending the swearing-in ceremony for Sugar Notch Borough's first Junior Councilman, Alex Schultz. As his first initiative, I challenged Alex to collaborate with his fellow council members to identify a key community need, write a letter to the Senator and me explaining its importance, and I’ll assist in securing his very first grant! It wasn’t too long ago I was starting my career as a councilman!

Hanging with the seniors

I really enjoyed hanging out with residents of the Temple Apartments in Edwardsville! This was my second visit to the community room, spending time connecting personally and getting to know each other better.
