Feeling the Jolt: Electricity Bills Set to Jump
Electricity prices are set to spike by 29% on June 1 across the PJM Territory, which covers 13 states and Washington, D.C., including Pennsylvania.
Why? Demand from data centers and AI is soaring, older power plants are shutting down, and new ones are stuck waiting in line.
The frustrating part is that many new power projects are ready to go, but government policies and regulations are getting in the way. I had the opportunity to question PJM directly about what they are doing to address this issue before families and businesses are hit even harder.

A Golden Milestone: Celebrating Enduring Love
Heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Ralph and Mrs. Elaine Stefanko, high school sweethearts who celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on May 3!
Fifty years is an amazing milestone that reflects a deep and enduring commitment, mutual respect, and a lifetime of lasting memories. Wishing you many more years of health and happiness!
If you or anyone else you know is celebrating a similar milestone, please reach out to my office, 570-902-4082. I would be truly delighted to acknowledge such a special milestone!

Cast a Line, Not a Dime: Fish for Free on Sunday, May 25
On Sunday, May 25, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) will host a Fish for Free day to allow anyone (resident or non-resident) to legally fish on all Pennsylvania waterways. A license is not required, but all other fishing regulations still apply.
This is the first of two dates set by the PFBC to enhance fishing opportunities. The next day is Independence Day, Friday, July 4. This program is a great opportunity to expose the next generation of anglers to the outdoors. More information about fishing in Pennsylvania is available at www.fishandboat.com.
If you are in need of a rod or basic tackle, my office is a loaner site for Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission’s Fishing Tackle Loaner Program.
Borrowing this equipment is as easy as borrowing a library book. Participants must have a valid Pennsylvania fishing license, be 18 years old or older to sign a loan agreement, and must return all borrowed equipment.
Anyone interested in borrowing fishing equipment at no charge can stop by my district office in Nanticoke and complete a loan agreement form.

Shredding and electronics recycling
Saturday, Aug. 9
Crestwood High School, 281 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top, 18707. |
The event runs from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The shredding event is available at no cost and gives individuals the opportunity to securely dispose of sensitive information. There is a limit of three boxes per car.
The electronics recycling program will be handled by a third-party recycling company out of Berwick. It helps to prevent difficult-to-dispose-of electronics from being illegally dumped. The electronics recycling event allows for free disposal of items such as computers (laptops and desktop), smartphones, tablets, printers, office phones, video game consoles, modems, routers, cameras, DVD players, VCRs, audio/video equipment, wires and chargers, hard drives, memory cards, power tools, and appliances.
Other items, such as LCD monitors, televisions and floor copiers, can be disposed of for a nominal fee to the recycling company.
Please contact my offices in Nanticoke, 570-902-4082, or Mountain Top, 570-403-2371, with questions about the electronics recycling program.
